there aren't many bodykit choices, and even fewer good choices. they're aren't that fast unless you do the GTX swap or spend time and money working the NA engine. they're an unusual car to modify but can look good, but you're limited on range of parts. also they're getting old, the youngest ones you'll find are around 15 years old so expect to have all the issues with old cars.

Is this your first car mate?
They make a great first car, Lots of potential as your really only limited by your imagination. Alreadyy pretty low down to the ground although some ppl thing now low enough :P Cheap on fuel and the wreckers have plenty of parts i've found. Everytime i go there is at least 3 bg's down there full of parts. |

The sohc BG produces 77kw, the dohc (SP) produces 92kw. Which is to say, considering their small weight, they go hard. A well maintained B engine powertrain will go for ever and ever if you don't kill the thing. And then if you do, it's not prohibitively expensive to replace valve seals (although it is to rebuild a gearbox if you can't find one).
As for bodykits, they're hard to get and very expensive, but the astina has good looks in the first place compared with what was around at the time - think laser, 207, corolla etc - and a pretty unique style, so they definitely won't be mistaken for another kind of car. Have a look around the readers' rides. Plus popup headlights = the sex. PS. what's your budget? PPS. check out this review. |

i have owned 2 bg astina's. my first one was a 92 model bg na which was a good performer for what was done. just 2' exhaust, 17' wheels and lowered 2inches.
i now own a 93 bg with a gtx familia conversion done to it. it currently makes 170kw atw and ran a 13.3 1/4 mile. also sits on 17' wheels etc in my opinion they are a gret little first car and alot of potential if you want to throw some coin at them. my pick would be the sp that way you have power windows, sunroof, sports seats and the better engine
