Air temperature test - Are you getting cold air?

I managed to get an air temperature reading device specifically for cars, with an incar LCD display, over the last week I done some experiments,

Ex1. Placed sensor inside standerd air box
Cruising temp average - 25 degrees
Max temp - 42.6 degrees

Ex2. Placed sensor inside POD filter (same location without the airbox)
Cruising temp average - 52 degrees
Max temp - 63.7 degrees

Ex3. Placed sensor where injen CAI POD would be located
Cruising temp - 15 degrees
Max temp - 22.4 degrees

Conclusion. Ex2 was very suprising but obvious when it sits open next to the engine, so im after an injen system for my POD now so it sucks in that sweet cold air. Imagine the results in winter for the injen!

cold nights - Lowest - 10deg
Max - 15 - 20deg

Warm days- Lowest - 20deg

Jaycar, $40.

It measures Inside/Outside temperatures, and constantly measures car voltage, good if you have a sterio, as having it loud while iddling really does drain ya battery, also lets you know when ya battery is on its way out!

i have another test for you - can you place the sensor inside the pipe right at the opening of the throttle body?

that would be very interesting as well to see how much the air heats up (if at all) from the filter. this would be especially interesting to compair the plastic pipework of the stock setup and the metal on the injen...

cool. coz i was thinking the injen might be getting the coldest air, but if it's traveling the furtherest then maybe it heats up more than the others??? unlikely it would get hotter than the other two, but still it's a posibility????

Now that i have the injen i done more tests and no its same temperature right through to the throttle body. The piping only heats up when the car is turned off as there is no air flowing to cool it down.

The other morning i was getting a 7.9 degree reading on the display, the car was screaming!!

Back in the 13B Cosmo days my highest temp at the throttlebody was 101 degrees C which droped to 36 with the stupid pro stock scoop ducting air onto the top mount cooler.
