Anchoring Sub and Rattling parcel shelf

Ok since i got my new sub and box its just been floating around the boot as it makes the carpet slide around and when i corner hard it actually bounces

how have you tied your's down?

Also for hardtop owners, who else here has a vibrating/rattley parcel shelf. mine does like crazy when i have loud music going (dance etc) and its really annoying. any possible solutions? i though of using deadening material but would that make the sub quieter from inside the car?

oh, any suggestions for 6" splits? i'm looking at some MTX's with an rrp of $350, they sound good to me but if you have a suggestion go ahead

I put velcro strips underneath and it works a treat... no movement at all

vibrating parcel shelf - remove the baby seat anchoring point. Thats the sorce of 90% of the rattle.

Anchoring the sub - i had a big 15" so i pushed up against the back of the seats then dropped a rectangular board which i had cut to size that would wedge between the sub box and the back of the boot. It basically layed flat against the floor and because it used to sit flush with the box and the boot therefore there wasn't any movement what so ever.

Mine is bolted to the car. And yes, i pulled the child restraint out many years ago as it used to rattle like crazy.

they have a child restraint standard? i'll take that out then tks.

i thought about velcro but its mostly the carpet moving, should i use velcro on the underside of the carpet?

yeah i know what you mean about the carpet

its not attached to the support underneath making it very prone to move around and fold etc.

If you glue it to the flastic underneath, or if you get a bit of plywood and you glue that to the bottom then velco will work, otherwise id still expect the box to wonder around a bit.

i got a hatch ut i assume that you guys have a plastic cover underneath the carped that sits over the spare right? well i went to bunning, got some strips of metal, only thin, 5 strips, length of the sub box, just a little longer, like 5 cm so 2.5 on each side. made a box, drilled holes in the plastic and then screwed this to the plastic, than to this i attached the 5th strip which i cut in to 4 pieces and bent making a brace, which the sub sits in. its braced by the front at one point/ corner, and sides at three points/corners. the back sits against the seat. when i need to remove it i just drop the seat and it slides in to the cabin alternatively either glue or velcro the carpet to the plastic, then velcro the sub to the carpet, or put eyebolts on the subbox, with a nut n washer inside the box, and likewise to on the seat. at least one on each side, and then get a bit of rope, or that mettal thinggy that has two screws with opposite threads and like a swivel joining them, so when you spin it it either loosens or titens it. this will stop it moving. will b ugly as fuk tho

Still removable though in about 2 minutes - it's only 2 screws. It's still a separate box, with just carpet over the top to make it look integrated.
