13B im probly dreaming
Hey guys, I was having a day dream the other day about putting a rotary into my BG. I know you may laugh but **** im just dreaming.
So the question is.. Is there a fwd rotary?? or.. can the bg be turned into a RWD?? please don't say just put a BPT in it because i know about them and want to do something differnt. SO any idea's?? the work would be done by dad's mate has a rotary work shop im talking quad rotor Cosmo's. And im sure he'll have the know about how to do it as well. Just want to know if i should keep it a day dream?? Cheers

If you wanted a race/drag car it would be a realy fun project.
For a road car you could probably use a toyota FWD gear box it would put the inlet and exhaust on the radiator side and allow more room around the drive shafts. Still a really expensive project. I need to catch up with a friend, his SR20 DET powered '80 Alfa GTV should almost be on the road.

AWD is easy, take the running gear from a GT4 Celica and adapt the bell housing. Or am I thinking Mitsubishi EVO???
The front of the engine would be best on the passengers side not the drivers side like in an Astina. This would give you the most clearence and a strongish drive-train. Still think about the cost... I'd say prohibative. Oh yeah, the SR20 is a nice fit and a nice balance. More power doesn't always make for faster laps.

The Alfa idea may work as it has a front engine and rear transaxle so you wouldn't need to cut-up too much of your chassis to fit a gearbox in the front. Problem would be that the rotary eccentric shaft (crank) runs through the centre of the engine not the bottom like in a piston engine. And the Alfa V6 transaxle costs $3000 plus ouch

a couple of guys in NZ have done the FWD rotary conversion to BF (i think) 323 wagons, so it can be done.
