Spongy Pedals?
Just wondering if anyone else has this, in my BA Hatch you have to push the pedal in a bit before it does anything. Just an old/used car thing?

Have the brakes bled and the auto trans serviced.
No the trans is not serviced when the car is, it is a more specialised job.

ok, well that rules out needing to adjust the drums up...
Short of bleeding the brakes, i dont' know? Does it have a self adjuster rear handbrake caliper?

As the clutch and Brake lines age they will add a slight bit of spongy feel as they are rubber based
Its not the end of the world but with good high Quality Dot 3 or 4 Brake fluid, decent brake pads you should be fine otherwise the next step is Braided lines Just out of interest take some tissue paper and wipe clean the clutch flexi line on the top of the gearbox and after a bit of spirited driving with some tough braking and gear shifting then recheck the line with more paper for fresh fluid, the tiniest of leaks here can remain un-nticed for quite some time and detriment your driving experience |
