Elegnt, what if you bought a cracked headlight from the wreckers first to practice on

If I can borrow Mum's car next week I'll try and give it a crack
yeh i think ill leave it in for about 20 as tc3 said. give that a crack

i tried to track down another sp20 or even 323 lights from a wrecker. impossible! there was one mob on here that had them but only new and where like 750 :\

ill give it a go after i read the DIY pinned thread again. will save me a bit of coin for springs

There's a pair on the auctions that'd be less than $180 to you.

lol i didnt have the balls to just pull it apart 1st go, was scared of the glass cracking (i know it wouldnt but )
i broke the indicator when i did the de-yellow indicator mod, but that broke cus the lense was in most of the way around the edge, and then towards where the bolt is it actually seals before the bolt, and the last part just sits there
this cracked for me >

Everything is sweet as guys. And the car looks so frigging good. Sets it off nicely. And wasn't too hard. One of the hardest parts was sanding the chrome off. It's ok where it's flat even where it's round but the little nooks and corners at killers... Could easily spend a whole day sanding them to get them
Perfect but I was running out of time. So it ain't the best job innthe world but unless you looking really hard to find something wrong it looks really good... I'll up load some photos tomorrow after I give the car a good bath.
Oh and one thing I am having problems with is now adjusting the head lights. I have hid's too so there bright and in the wrong position. Up and downnisnfine but gettin to the nut to move left an right is a real pain.

Ahh good to hear Is it really necessary to remove the chrome though? Would scuffing it not work?
I scuffed up a set of chrome wheel nuts and painted them black and they're still going great, just used light coats

Did anyone that has done this used undercoat/plastic primer? as you are painting onto plastic? i know its not heat resistant, is that why noone uses it?

anyone thought of using a heat just around the edges, instead of heating the whole light in the ovan??

you can use heat just around the edges but there is an increase chance of breaking something as the seal sets very quickly using this meathod... and i used a plastic primer after rubbing back all the chrome

and daniel i probably could have just scuffed the chrome back but wanted to make sure the paint would stick.... i am going to redo them when i have a week to spend on them as i want them perfect lol

One of my bumper clips is broken (oh so intelligently part of the headlight housing, thanks a lot Mazda) so it's kind of tempting to get a spare set of lights and I can kill two birds with one stone.
