Well, when I got quotes on insurance for my BJ, the insurance asked me if it was the SP20, because it was gonna be like another 1k more expensive as they said that it was a very high-risk car to insure, because of the theft rate (which was apparently extremely high)...

Does anyone have a different favourite to the one they actually own?

I was looking at buying an SP20, but when i compared it to my BA, it just didn't cut it. Even though it was newer, it felt flimzier, cheaper and it didn't strike me as a very refined body shape.

But thats just my 2 cents, again i am going to cheer on the BA because i own one.
I personally like the BA, as has been said before in terms of the influence of Porsche... It is much more rigid on the road, stock, than a stock BJ... (plus they had the V6 which is even sexier)...

Saying that, I love my BJ, and dread the day I have to say goodbye to it.

I think the BG SP is the winner

Elec everything, DOHC engine, sleek, easy for BPT transplant...

From there they just got fatter and lazier...gearboxes turn to sh!t, harder to modify and looking more like a family car, which may appeal to some, but not me...

I HATE the V6 BA, BIGGEST PIECES OF SH!T EVER...every time I work on one i want to jam my spanner in the plug hole....

BJ SP20's are ok...part from VICS and F series

Why would you care if the BA had been touched by some idiot from Porsche, hello they were beaten by MAZDA...ALMOST EVERYWHERE....they know nothing...

SP20s have an improved G series box as compared to the BG. The only way to get one better than either of those (using stock parts) is to have a hybrid G series box like I have made from a KE/BF and GD 626 gearbox (diff case) with extra reinforcing...

You forgot to mention the top 2 spot welds letting go on the clutch support bracket in the Astina 1.8/SP20 too. Which in turn lets water in all over the clutch pedal and your left foot.

And you also left out the gayest design feature ever of all time on the BG, those friggin plastic A pillar mould trims (heavily restricted VAF air box, overheating radiator due to lack of airflow, rusting sunroof, rippled sheet metal)...

What he said. Even the BA G series box is stronger than the BG one.

In fact, I'd take a KF/KH NA FWD TX3 over a BG Astina any day of the week... Bah!

My favourite 323 is the BF Turbo SS Super Deluxe (BF 323 GT), but someone left it off the list... Unfortunately I had to settle for a crappy KE Ford Laser TX3 Turbo given the rarity and high price of a BF SS. It has quite a soft sloppy chassis, but it still handles really well, and the most important thing of all is:
I like for what IT is, not for what another model car ISN'T. It's 1 of only 2 cars I've owned that made me smile every time I drove it.

Big thanks to MadMat for coming over and helping me remove the broken EGO off the Laser too!

I'd never take a Ford over a Mazda period....Dad used to build the KF/KH and he said they were nothing but trouble, rust not long after new, weak axles etc...

SP20's did have an improved gearbox but who cares, who wants to go into the trouble of fully utilizing it anyway?...its a big rarity that you actually see an SP20 with a considerable amount of torque to use the refined box in the 1st place e.g. BPT etc...

I never had any problem with overheating...EVER...heard lots of rumors about it but it never happened...all i could say about the cooling system is that the top tank cracks, but thats age...

As with the "A" pillar moulds, obviously a design flaw of the 80's, but you would crinkle and crack too if you withstood 30+ degrees of heat, all the chemicals under the sun and highway speeds...lol, mind you I just replaced mine and never had a problem.

We aint talking about fords anyway...BG is better!!!!...lol

BA is elongated family car with optional GAY!!! V6 and a big ass...

BJ is a shopping cart for yo mumers...

BJSP20, Id buy one...for Brooke...

That's awesome Molly, but ppl might respect your opinion more if you didn't have to bag (better/newer/more refined) cars to justify it......

IMO, saying how gay another car is (and giving incorrect information) doesn't make your choice of car carry more weight with other ppl......

Fact: A higher %age of BG Astinas have had heating issues than compared to BJ Astinas/Proteges with their VICS and water leaking issues......

Keep it real!

Bg for sure owned 2. Must have bpt but. Other models are nice just don't have the performance potential the bg has. Every car has issues but newer models haven't got to that age yet
