Whiteline front swaybar bush kit [W0441-20] for BA Astina
I was just wondering how many people have actually bought this item for the BAand never installed it due to the position of the swaybar and the mounting bracket/bolts
I personally have had mine since 22/11/04 and its not until now that I have actually pulled the swaybar And guess what?? It will never fit those bushes The bush kit is for a 20mm bar and the front is actually 25mm I know its only a $20 part but I thought we should share this information I found this out and rang Whiteline about it and spoke to Wayne but he didn't seem to concerned I would like to get a figure of the amount purchased from this site alone to go back to him and have this problem rectified so they will either update the part or remove it completely My efforts to have a custom sway produced for the market have come up fruitless. They are willing to make a 1 off item but wont even come to the party for a group buy or run Well thats it |

in the fulcrum catalog it actully leaves the diameter of the bush blank, you have to measusre you sway bar and then tell them and they will send you the right one, ide say they did this cos the v6 my have a thicker sway bar than the 1.8.. well thats my guess
edit: i just checked the fulcrum cataloge again and the partnumber is SPF1406-__K where the __ is you enter the bush diameter but it only gives the option of a 20mm bush

I did mention ages ago that the bushes were wrong.
They never touched the front when they did my car the front bushes mentioned in the article were only them trying to sell **** they thought would fit. I remember saying this last year when I was swapping over engines from jynx to mine and visa versa that the sway was heaps bigger than 20mm as thats the rear size...

Wotjek should remember the size of the 1.8 I thought it was 24mm but it could have
been 25mm. If the order does go ahead I would probably be interested in the 25mm but that may also require a new rear sway to bring balance back again.

The outside shape would be similar to many other 'D' bushes. This does not go to say that Whiteline has actualy installed one.
For all the work required I'd want the swaybar as well.

Well after pulling apart a BA 1.8 hatch the other night I must say I was quite surprised at what I found
Front Swaybar 24mm compared to v6 hardtop 25mm smaller ends on the links Rear swaybar anaorexic (forgot the diameter) but skinnier than the v6 ends on the links are smaller also Rear lateral links or radial arms 22mm compared to the v6 hardtop 25mm (BTW I tried to replace some of mine once , post rear ender, and found the v6 hatch to be 22mm also) Trailing arms= weak looking C-shaped. v6 Hardtop tubular 25mm Now all these parts should be interchangeable and may prove to be a cheap alternative to better handling for some of you And my GOODNESS the brake pads are 33% larger on the v6 |

You talked me into it.
I have been looking for rear hubs & brakes from a V6 so I can change to 5 stud all round looks like I want the other bits hanging off as well. If anybody knows of a V6 hatchback being wrecked let me know.

yes after seeing the hardtop 2.0 vs. the hatch 1.8 parts - i'd be looking for a V6 hardtop for suspension parts. also the hatch was a 97 model vs. petes 96 (i think) so this could make a difference between the series in the suspension parts also??? something to check out.
oh yeah the when putting the 1.8 brake pads against the 2.0 brake pads and realizing that the V6 pads are 33% bigger, it's gonna be a good upgrade for the 1.8s. rotors are same thickness and only a little bigger diameter. ryan Last edited by project.r.racing; 25-04-2006 at 06:40 AM. |
