Don't think so as this'n is a sedan but the overly long sales pitch does make you wonder.

actually a sydney seller with the car registered in victoria..

That Familia sedan would be worth a pretty penny and is indeed rare, but I know of a better example in Mt Crosby (if the owner would actually post on this forum, c'mon jimbo you know you want to! )

i SWEAR ITS HIM! lol just reading the mods hes used the same brands, same upgrades. either that OR someone has bought it and now is trying to flog it off again! just look at the replies to the questions. im going to ask him how fast it is and how many skylines hes beaten haha.

edit... we shall see what sort of response i get from my not so subtle question hahaahah

"his is a very clean familia. Everything works. Power windows all work, central locking works,
you name it" further down

"I recently had the familia aircon re-gassed and upgraded to au spec r134a, which included a new filter/converter, adaptors for r134a gas, r134a valve, seals etc. however after running it for a week the gas leaked out from one of the new seals but it is under warranty and I have to take back so they can fix it" umm DOES THE AIRCON WORK? it should as mentioned only milimetres above haha!

or"the drivers switch can be a little hard to press down"
"The clutch pedal squeaks"
" it doesn’t click properly into 3rd gear"

just to name a few... at least it kept me amused for 10 minutes!

I found it a bit odd as I read

Date of Manufacture: Dec 1995
Date of 1st Registration: 02 Feb 2009

And owning a 14 yr old car in japan is odd?

I also it found that a bit a bit odd as they stopped building th BG's in japan in May 1994 and they only sold the BG-8R in japan.

My 1997 Pulsar wasn't brought into Australia until 2008. So it's possible for it to sit around for ages.

More importantly that car was made 18 months after they stopped making them!!
Making it extra rare!!!

I cant find any mention anywhere that they kept making the BG GTX sedans until 96.

When I lived in NZ i never saw a GTX sedan later than early 94, But I am willing to be proved wrong.
From what I have found the production of the 1994 BG model ended on May 24, 1994.
I also found this about the BG infini sedan which is the first time i have seen the BG infini sedan mentioned anywhere!!
These are even rarer than the GTX sedan and where a brilliant car to drive in its time.

Familia Infini

The Mazda Familia Infini was produced from 1989 to 1990 as a special Japan only special sport trim line of the Familia. Much of Infini trim is similar to the American LX version, equipped with the 1.8 DOHC BP engine and 4 disk brakes. But the Infini was also equipped with some notable upgrades such as a viscous limited slip differential, tightened suspension package, and bonnet/headlight style similar to the 323 hatchbacks, and would not be seen again on a sedan models until 1994 when all Familia sedan models received similar face lifts. Only limited numbers of the Infini were produced, numbering around only 1000 ever made.
Some other unique Infini differences included: 5-speed manual gearbox FWD viscous LSD only (26 spline unique driveshafts lengths at gearbox end), BP-ZE N/A engine only, right hand drive only, Japan only, came only in dark green in color, 4-door sedan only, unique Infini trim grille, rear spoiler, carpet quoted as lightweight, has no sound deadener fixed from factory, infini logo on horn button, front grille, wheel caps & bootlid, unique factory front clear indicators, Momo steering wheel, BBS 15" rims, suede interior with seat style same as GTX trims, leather gearboot & knob, front & rear strut braces, 22mm sway bars front & rear, rear tie bar, 180kmh speedo & 7100rpm redline tachometer, and 4 wheel disc brakes 250mm+ all 4 corners.

ive definatly got listings for a series 2 which is 1991-1996...the series 2 has a sort of face lift with the bumper grille headlights and bonnet...there is actually a member on here who has one...the bonnet drops down in between the headlights...

Yeah, Australia got the BG Sedan as a starter model from 94-96, because the BAs were so much more expensive than the outgoing BG.

Australia may have got the BG sedan until 96 but this is a JDM BG GTX sedan which was only sold new in japan not here.
And in Japan they stopped production of the BG's in may 94.
Which is why I say his description is wrong.
Series 1 was 1989 until Jan 1991 then it was the facelifted model until May 94 when they stopped making them.
I know this because i used to have a facelift model BG in NZ.
But someone show me proof that his car wasn't a jap import and I will believe his car!!

Australia has always been behind the times when it comes to cars.

There was a corolla they kept selling here for 4 1/2 years after japan stopped making them.(almost a whole model missed)

So this says to me its an Oz spec car with the JDM GTX parts transplanted into it!
Looking at the VIN number the middle says rebuil making me think its rebuilt.
A friend of mine has a Evo III which is a Aus lancer GL that has been rewelded to Evo spec then had every part transplanted off the evo into it and it has a similar VIN

I doubt its been rebuilt, too much time & $$$ to change over to 4wd...

As I said my mate has a evo iii that was a lancer gl fwd that has been transferred across so thats prob how this gtx sedan came to be.
The gtx sedan was only sold new in japan and they replaced it with the BA in june 94. i used to have all the japanese car catalogs and brochures when i lived in nz.

this car is being discussed on fl.com also and one very observant person noticed that the door jambs and engine bay were still grey and only the exterior had been resprayed to black. interesting....

i'm not sure if it would be a Aus spec bg sedan as some ppl have been saying as the change over to 4wd would be monumental, even just getting the parts for it would be a mission by itself. I rekon its probably just a private import.
