you should stick some shielding between the pod and engine to keep the hot air away, then run some piping to the front bar to direct cool air to the pod.
don't be afraid to put the front bumper off, it isn't hard, it just takes a little bit of time. anyway the steps to doing it are: 1. in each guard there will be little plastic screw things long the front edge where the bumper meets it, undo these. 2. pull the guard lining back so you can get a screw driver behind the corner of the bumper, there is a screw/bolt there. (its a Phillips screw/8mm bolt combo i think) 3. remove both headlights 4. disconnect any other wiring to the bumper, including indicators. not sure how the hatch works, but the hardtop just twist and unplug. the hardtop foglight loom is also clipped to the bumper, even if you dont have foglights, so i would assume the hatch is the same. the trick to unclipping the wires (you should see them when you remove the headlights) is to get a screwdriver behind them and unclip one side, you can then pull them out, DONT just try to pull them out with out unclipping them, you can damage the bumper and the wiring. 5. undo the 4 big bolts that were covered by the headlights. they are goldy yellow and are 17mm i think. 6. pull off the front bar.if it snags check for any other wiring you've missed and i dont have to reinstall the bumper, same steps in reverse. oh, i suggest putting a blanket on the floor to put the bumper onto, especially if you've just had it painted, you don't want to scratch it.
